Two Worlds Native Theater and Performing Arts is on a mission to empower Native communities through performance art that is of, by, and for Native Americans. Our broad vision for our work is to catalyze and facilitate positive change for Native communities, while also engaging non-Native allies in the work we do.
Our contribution to the arts includes several key frames to our vision which include:
Resource Development – Our Ensemble program within Two Worlds provides career training in the performing arts, which we hope will increase the earning power of the program’s participants and economically strengthen the Native Community. The program gives participants practice in writing scripts, acting and other skills directly related to performing, but it also goes a step further. Select Ensemble members learn other skills necessary for a successful career in the entertainment industry. These skills include audition etiquette, job interview best practices, resume building and best practices for taking an effective headshot photo.
Planning – One of our goals in establishing talent is to influence our artists to believe that they are part of something bigger than themselves: A movement to change the way the industry views Native American and Indigenous actors, directors, and writers, as well as reclaim our space on a professional platform. In addition to collective responsibility, we must remember we’re here to create a vision and stay committed to achieve that vision. We Win or lose together.
Our work includes more than just, inclusive, and equitable communities. Two Worlds has an overall inspirational appeal to Native American theater on a national level to advocate and protect our traditional ideas, values, and self-image for our community by encouraging, empowering, and strengthening our team to be at its best potential.
With each original performance we aspire to inspire our audiences by incorporating more Native led performing arts, spoken word, dance and live acting for an immersive experience. Our performances are informed by the issues that touch our own lives, as well as the Native American community at large. With our art we hope to spark conversation and inspire advocacy among Native and non-Native audiences alike. Learn more about us here.
