Risolana is a community risograph studio located in Albuquerque’s South Valley. We see power in printmaking as a tool for community dialogue where personal and collective expression meet.

By providing hands-on access to and training for this unique printing method, Risolana works to encourage ideas, create engaging work, and cultivate an artmaking space as accessible as the risograph itself. At Risolana, we view design-to-print as a powerful platform for individuals to share their stories, catalyze movements, and celebrate the rich tapestry of our vibrant communities in New Mexico.

Our mission revolves around three core pillars:

  • Inspiration and Excitement: We aim to provide people in New Mexico with the exhilarating experience of working with a Risograph printer. Printing with this technology not only produces visually stunning results but also instills a sense of excitement and creative inspiration in our community members.
  • Empowerment through Creation: Our goal is to inspire individuals to embark on creative projects of their own. We believe that everyone has a unique voice and vision to share. Through our programs and resources, we empower people to take their ideas from concept to reality, fostering a culture of innovation and self-expression.
  • Skill Building and Community Networks: We recognize that successful project realization often requires more than just inspiration; it necessitates practical skills and access to supportive networks. We are committed to equipping individuals with the necessary skills to bring their projects to life and providing a space for them to connect with other creators and mentors.

At the heart of our organization, we are developing a model that leverages tools like the Risograph printer to catalyze diverse skill sets and backgrounds. Our vision is to create an inclusive and collaborative environment where individuals with varying levels of expertise can come together to produce work that is not only visually captivating but also socially impactful.

Through our workshops, we aspire to create a platform for sharing knowledge and taking risks and positive learning that ripples out. In creating these spaces, we aim to strengthen the bonds of our community, celebrate its cultural richness, and empower individuals to be agents of positive change through art, design, and storytelling.
